With the action brutal and bloody at AEW All Out in Chicago, the post-show media scrum still was able to steal the headlines with verbal shots fired in all directions.
At All Out, CM Punk overcame Blackpool Combat Club’s Jon Moxley to capture the AEW World Championship for the second time in his career. After the show at the media scrum, Punk took aim at Hangman Adam Page, continuing hostilities over a perceived slight during a promo Page cut during the build-up to the two men’s match at Double Or Nothing:
“What did I ever do in this world to deserve an empty-headed f*cking dumb f*ck like Hangman Adam Page to go out on national television and f*cking go into business for himself? For what? What did I do? What did I ever do? Didn’t do a goddamn thing.”
CM Punk then took aim at AEW EVPs Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks, suggesting that they had leaked information regarding Punk’s involvement over Colt Cabana’s role in AEW:
“Now, it’s 2022. I haven’t been friends with [Colt Cabana] since at least 2014, late 2013. The fact that I have to sit up here because we have irresponsible people who call themselves EVPs and couldn’t f*cking manage a Target and they spread lies and bullsh*t and put into the media that I got somebody fired when I have f*ck all to do with him, want nothing to do with him, do not care where he works, where he doesn’t work, where he eats, where he sleeps.”
“And the fact that I have to get up here and do this in 2022 is f*cking embarrassing. And if y’all are at fault, f*ck you. If you’re not, I apologize.”
Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks reportedly “threatened to walk” over Punk’s comments with “a melee” also reported to have taken place outside of the media scrum after Punk left.
AEW President Tony Khan also raised eyebrows with his comments about WWE, who held two huge shows over Labor Day weekend – the weekend most closely associated with All Out:
“Our performance — in prior years, we never had this kind of competition. This was kind of a first for us in AEW to see this kind of a crowded marketplace. I’m not sure if this is what we’ll see from now on. I am very happy with the numbers we did, given the competition we had. The number is the number and I have to face the competition that is out there.”
“When I compared myself to Jim Crockett Promotions this weekend, I think I got a taste of the same medicine Jim Crockett Promotions took, but I have a lot more f*cking money than Jim Crockett did. I’m serious. I’m not gonna sit back and take this f*cking sh*t.”
