Twenty months of hurt is over for Chad Gable as he gained his first pinfall victory since June 2020 on Monday Night Raw.
On the 7th of February edition of WWE’s flagship show, Raw Tag Team Champions Alpha Academy – Otis and Chad Gable – took on The Street Profits in tag team action. As the match reached its climax, Gable had Angelo Dawkins caught in the Ankle Lock before Dawkins tried to roll through the move. As he did this, Gable caught him in a roll-up of his own for the pinfall win for Alpha Academy.
While the win might seem unremarkable in isolation, an intriguing bit of trivia has been uncovered revealing it to be Chad Gable’s first pinfall victory on WWE television in 20 months.
The last time Gable managed to get the 1-2-3 on an opponent was on the June 15th, 2020 episode of SmackDown when then known as Shorty G, Gable defeated Mojo Rawley. This turned out to be Rawley’s last match for the company before he was released from his WWE contract 10 months later in April 2021.
Despite his lack of pinfall wins in that time, Chad Gable has found recent success with Otis after the pair gained back-to-back wins over Randy Orton and Riddle in early January 2022, with the second of those winning Alpha Academy the Raw Tag Team Championship.
This reign is Chad Gable’s fourth tag team title reign as part of WWE. Gable previously held the NXT and SmackDown Tag Team Titles with American Alpha partner Jason Jordan before becoming Raw Tag Team Champion for the first time in 2018 with Bobby Roode.
