Carmella has been selected as the first SmackDown representative in the Women’s Money In The Bank Ladder Match, much to the chagrin of Liv Morgan.
On the June 25th edition of SmackDown WWE authority figure Sonya Deville selected Carmella as an entrant in the annual Ladder Match. This is despite every other entrant to date having to earn their way in, by winning a qualifying match.
After the announcement from Deville, Liv Morgan hit the ring to take issue with what had just transpired. While Deville noted Carmella’s previous success in the match as the reason for her selection, Morgan pointed out that she had beaten Carmella just a couple of weeks previously.
The back and forth set up a match between the two women which Morgan won. However, it is unclear whether this will affect either woman’s status for Money In The Bank.
Meanwhile, on the men’s side, Big E saw off long-time rival Apollo Crews to book his place in the career making match.
The most recent episode of SmackDown also saw the sensational return of Edge. The Rated R Superstar interrupted a promo from Reigns and his Special Counsel Paul Heyman, viciously attacking the Universal Champion.
It has since been announced that Edge will face Roman Reigns at Money In The Bank for the Universal Championship.
WWE Money In The Bank will take place on July 18th in Fort Worth,Texas. The event will see a WWE pay-per-view take place in front of the crowd for the first time since February 2020.
Elsewhere at the event, Bobby Lashley will defend his WWE Championship against Kofi Kingston. Meanwhile Rhea Ripley will go one on one with Charlotte Flair with the RAW Women’s Championship on the line.
