WWE’s Senior Vice President of Talent Development Canyon Ceman has been let go by the company according to a new report.
Per Mike Johnson of PWInsider, Ceman was released from his WWE contract earlier today. The report provided no further details. The move comes after a report from Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer claimed that the 49-year-old had been released as part of a corporate shake-up in late June in a move that “shouldn’t be considered a surprise.”
Later that day, however, WWE themselves disputed the report and confirmed that he was still with the company. Wrestling Observer went on to retract their report shortly thereafter.
Canyon Ceman had mostly kept himself out of the spotlight during his nine years with WWE. Initially signing in March 2012 as the Senior Director of Talent Relations, he made cameo appearances in WWE Network docu-series Breaking Ground which gave a behind-the-scenes look at several NXT and Performance Center talents at the time including Bayley, Tyler Breeze, Baron Corbin and Aliyah.
The Volleyball World Championship silver medalist was promoted to Vice President of Talent Development in August 2015 and later became Senior Vice President of Talent Development, the role he maintained until his reported release. His main role within the company was to oversee NXT as well as the recruitment and development of various talents within the WWE Performance Center.
