Candice Michelle has revealed what she was told her role was to be when she joined WWE in 2004 after initially applying for the Raw Diva Search.
Appearing in the company from 2005 until 2009. Candice competed in several types of gimmick matches such as bra and panties contests and even an ‘Extreme Pudding’ match. Speaking to The Angle podcast, Candice explained that her own ambitions were always greater than that. For her, she was there to become the Women’s Champion.
“For me, when I signed on the dotted line on my contract, that was my goal the entire time. Now that wasn’t their goal. Their goal, what they said to me was ‘you’re here to pretty up the business’. But when you go in and you fight for it and start training and do what you want to do and so many of us women kind of followed in that footstep.”
Candice Michelle was also part of a group known as ‘Vince’s Devils’ alongside Torrie Wilson and Victoria.
Candice discussed what she learned from Vince McMahon:
“I think what I learned most is what he tells everybody, ‘I give you a platform and it’s up to you what you do with it’. It’s true, and I remember being in a room when I just started. It was filled with all the Superstars, and him giving this speech about this like, ‘hey guys, step it up. Step up your game.’ He wasn’t talking to me, you know. I was the little eye candy in the back corner but in my eyes, I was like ‘got it! I know what I got to do now if I want to be the champion, I got to start putting in extra work and training harder.”
Candice Michelle achieved her goal of becoming WWE Women’s Champion at Vengeance: Night Of Champions in June 2007. She appeared most recently for WWE at the Raw Reunion show in July 2019. In a backstage segment, Candice defeated Kelly Kelly to win the 24/7 Championship.
