A new report has given an update on the status of NXT Superstar Candice LeRae, saying that her contract will expire “this Spring”.
Candice LeRae hasn’t been seen on NXT TV since The Great American Bash in early July 2021. At the event, she and her partner Indi Hartwell lost the NXT Women’s Tag Team Titles to Io Shirai and Zoey Stark. A few weeks later it was announced that LeRae and her husband Johnny Gargano were expecting their first child.
Although LeRae made several more appearances for the brand, she later disappeared from view as she began her maternity leave.
While the star has been off television, her contract status has become a point of speculation. This only intensified after Gargano’s WWE deal expired in December 2021. He is currently still a free agent and recently announced his first appearance since leaving the company will be at WrestleCon during WrestleMania weekend in Dallas, Texas.
Although it has previously been noted that Candice LeRae’s contract will expire in 2022, there has been little detail. However, a new report says that it will happen in “the Spring.”
The report from Fightful adds that her contract hasn’t been renewed or frozen. A WWE source told Fightful that it was unclear as to whether her contract could be frozen due to her maternity leave. LeRae is not expected to return to WWE before her deal expires and new terms haven’t been discussed.
Despite this, both LeRae and Gargano are said to remain on good terms with WWE, and the company would welcome both of them back. Finally, WWE had no plans to concern LeRae with renegotiating while she is away.
Candice LeRae and Johnny Gargano welcomed baby Quill into the world on February 17th 2022. Gargano has since revealed that he always planned to be a free agent when his first child was born.
