Cameron Grimes Released By WWE

Cameron Grimes has informed fans that he has been released from his WWE contract.

On April 23rd, Grimes, real name Trevor Lee, posted an emotional video to social media to break the news that he is no longer a part of the company:

This is Trevor Lee, also known as Cameron Grimes. I just got off the phone with WWE and unfortunately, I have been released from my contract. 5 years ago the last thing that I was able to tell my father Tracey Caddell was that I signed with the WWE. I loved working here, I loved working at the WWE. I want to thank everyone who has helped me. I could sit and name all the list of people but the video might be a little bit too long.

Even though you guys haven’t seen me in the past year, I have been trying my best to learn from everybody who comes through, everybody who would sit there and listen. But if you are a fan of me I am here to let you know that there is a damn fire lit under my ass! All I want to do is work, all I’ve ever wanted to do is work, this is all I got.

But hey, the good news is there ain’t gonna be no stopping Trevor Lee now baby, let me tell you that. I love you guys, we’re gonna figure this out, this isn’t what I wanted to do at all. The WWE is all I’ve ever wanted to do and be. But if I have to go somewhere else to show them that they missed out, I guess that’s what I gotta do, thank you guys.

Signing with the company back in 2019, Grimes appeared on NXT and made it to the final of the 2019 NXT Breakout Tournament. In 2021, Grimes portrayed his Richest Man in NXT persona following on from success on the stock market after investing in Gamestop. A part of a series of entertaining vignettes with The Million Dollar Man Ted DiBiase, Grimes would face off against DiBiase’s representative LA Knight with the returning Million Dollar Championship on the line. Grimes defeated Knight for the title at TakeOver 36 before the championship was retired once again.

Briefly reigning as North American Champion, Grimes was called up to the main roster in the 2023 Draft and was used sparingly on the SmackDown brand. Grimes’ final match took place on the April 12th SmackDown where he lost to Bron Breakker.
