Cain Velasquez

Cain Velasquez has released his first public statement since being charged with first degree attempted murder.

On February 28th Cain Velasquez was arrested in relation to a shooting near Monterey Highway and Bailey Avenue in Morgan Hill.

It was later reported that Velasquez allegedly shot at a man who had recently been charged with molesting a close relative. In the incident, the man’s step-father was shot and taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The accused man, 43-year-old Harry Eugene Goularte, lives at a home that hosts a day-care business run by his mother. Goularte was charged with one felony count of a lewd and lascivious act with a child under the age of 14.

Goularte was arraigned Friday, February 25th, and granted supervised release.

It is alleged that on February 28th, Cain Velasquez opened fire on a vehicle carrying Goularte, his step-father and at least one other person. Goularte’s step-father was hit at least once, but is expected to survive.

After being charged with first degree attempted murder, among nine other charges, Velasquez has now issued a statement thanking fans for their support.

To everyone that has expressed your support, my family and I will never be able to thank you enough. From the bottom of our hearts and the depths of our souls, we are forever grateful for your love. Your selfless gestures and kind words have given me strength in my darkest times. This story is complex and slowly unraveling as we speak.

To the true victims of this case, may God give you the strength to come forward. Though it is most difficult to relive the pain that has happened to you, in speaking the truth, justice will be served and your own true healing will start. I will never stop helping or loving my community and all of you. Thank you for giving me love
