Bully Ray Criticizes Recent CM Punk WWE Promo: “Why Even Bring That Up?”

Dominik Mysterio Spoils The Party For CM Punk At WWE Show In Chicago

WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray isn’t sure why CM Punk included this detail in a recent promo.

On the January 13th episode of Monday Night Raw, CM Punk made it clear that he intends to win the 2025 Royal Rumble, running down a list of people he says he’d love to throw over the top rope. During the promo, Punk made a scathing reference to Hulk Hogan, who was viciously booed as he promoted Real American Beer on the January 6th episode. Punk said:

“You put Hulk Hogan in the Royal Rumble, I’ll throw his dusty ass over the top rope and kill Hulkamania once and for all.”

Speaking on a recent edition of Busted Open Radio, Bully Ray spoke about Punk’s promo, wondering why the star would bring up Hogan’s name if there were no plans for The Hulkster to make an appearance in the Royal Rumble.

“Punk talked about Hogan. Why talk about Hogan and throwing his ‘old, dusty ass’ over the top rope if you weren’t going to do that? Cause I think lots of people would love to see CM Punk eliminate Hulk Hogan from the Royal Rumble. That would be a massive deal. Hogan would get a massive pop in the Rumble. I mean, I don’t know if he can do it physically, but I’m just like ‘Man, why even bring that up?'” (h/t WrestlingInc)

While it’s unlikely that Hulk Hogan will compete in a WWE ring again, Hogan is confirmed to appear at Saturday Night’s Main Event on January 25th.

CM Punk Would Love To Face Stone Cold Steve Austin

During a recent interview with Nightcap, CM Punk was asked who he’d most like to face now that he’s back in WWE. He said one name is at the top of his list:

“One name always comes to mind, and that’s Stone Cold Steve Austin.” (h/t SEScoops)

Steve Austin last wrestled at WrestleMania 38, where he defeated Kevin Owens in a No Holds Barred match and later gave one last stunner to Vince McMahon before returning to retirement. While there’s a slim chance of Punk getting Austin into the ring, he admits that another dream match is likely impossible.
