Bully Ray Calls For Austin Theory To Face Edge At WrestleMania

Edge cuts a promo

Bully Ray has suggested that Austin Theory should be the man to step up and face Edge at WrestleMania 38.

On the February 21st episode of Monday Night Raw, Edge made his return to WWE television for the first time since the Royal Rumble. Although the the WWE Hall of Famer wasn’t in action, he still made sure to make an impact.

Sat on his now signature chair in the middle of the ring, Edge explained his love and attachment to WrestleMania. After running down his list of achievements at the spectacular, he laid down a open challenge for someone to step up and his him at this year’s event. Referencing Cody Rhodes, AJ Styles, Damian Priest and Finn Balor in the process.

However, speaking on Busted Open Radio, fellow Hall of Famer Bully Ray suggested that it should be Austin Theory who steps forward to face the Rated R Superstar.

“I love it (Theory facing Edge at WrestleMania). Theory having a huge match like that, and maybe, maybe, they did the promo last night to throw everybody off the scent. Maybe people are going to be clamouring for AJ (Styles) to step up and challenge Edge, but it’s Austin Theory who steps up, the young, brash, up-and-comer, who, I believe, is doing an excellent job. Who, I believe, is being well-taken by the entire locker room.”

“I think the kid is liked. I know Vince McMahon has put himself back on TV for Austin Theory. I see the way Brock (Lesnar) takes care of him when he throws him around. I see how Brock made sure the kid shared the spotlight with Brock in the Elimination Chamber. Vince McMahon likes him, Brock likes him, I bet a dollar to say that a majority of the locker room likes this guy. Why not put him in there with Edge?”

AJ Styles currently looks to be favourite to face Edge, having been open about his desire to face the former World Champion for a long time. Furthermore, a recent report noted that a match between the two had been pitched, although there is no news as to whether this is the creative direction the company will be following.
