Aleister Black was last seen on WWE TV on October 2020. On the October 12th episode of Monday Night RAW, Black lost a no DQ match against Kevin Owens. Aleister was then drafted to SmackDown in the October draft and has not appeared since.
It has been reported that the former NXT Champion is currently dealing with some minor injuries, which may explain the lengthy absence. Aleister has also been quiet about his current status on social media. However, in a recent tweet, he did reference his time working with Andrade, who was recently released by WWE:
.@AndradeElIdolo goes synonymous with my WWE career. My 1st opponent & the opponent I won the belt from. From start to finish a total pro and in my opinion few have his footwork, ability to commit and execute in-ring techniques. Amigo, thank you for everything.

Murphy recently returned to WWE TV after an extended absence with an appearance on the March 5th episode of SmackDown. This will not be the first time that Black and Murphy have faced off in one on one competition. The two faced off in multiple matches throughout late 2019 and early 2020, with the striking man from Amsterdam picking up victories on every occasion. Murphy’s final loss to Black caused him to snap and join the Monday Night Messiah Seth Rollins as one of his disciples.
If the match ended up taking place at Raymond James Stadium next, it will be the second singles match for each superstar at WrestleMania. Last year, Black defeated Bobby Lashley on night 1 of WWE’s biggest event of the year. On the pre-show to WrestleMania 35, Buddy Murphy lost his Cruiserweight Championship to Tony Nese.
WrestleMania 37 will take place on Saturday, April 10th and Sunday, April 11th at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.
