Buddy Murphy On Pitching Idea To Be An Associate Of Paul Heyman

Roman Reigns Paul Heyman

Former WWE star Buddy Murphy says he pitched to be involved in the Paul Heyman/Roman Reigns storyline with an idea that Triple H seemingly loved.

Murphy was released from his WWE contract at the beginning of June along with former WWE Universal Champion Braun Strowman, Aleister Black, Ruby Riott, Lana, and Santana Garrett as the company continues to make budget cuts.

Since his release, Buddy Murphy has sat down with Chris Van Vliet on his Insight podcast to discuss an idea he pitched that would have seen him perhaps sitting at the side of the table. Murphy detailed his pitch that could have seen him acting as a henchman for The Head Of The Table’s Special Counsel, Paul Heyman.

Murphy explained:

“I had this really cool story idea that I pitched to Heyman, who loved it. I even mentioned it to The Usos, who loved it. It was basically to get me as like a – not a part of the Bloodline but to be an associate of Paul (Heyman). I don’t take orders from Roman (Reigns) but I do his bidding because Heyman asked me (to do so). It was like a sub-story on the side of Heyman.”

“And I’d be like a Judge Dredd, so I was going to be a mixture. Big Boss Man, Judge Dredd for Heyman. Heyman loved it, and I ended up having a conversation with Hunter (Triple H) while he was at a SmackDown taping and just mentioned to him that I pitched this idea to Heyman, (Triple H) loved it. We’ll see where that goes and I understand it needs to go through a particular ranking, get it approved by Vince.”

Despite the apparent enthusiasm from the WWE EVP Triple H, the idea never saw the light of day on WWE television.

Roman Reigns has dominated SmackDown since his return to WWE at SummerSlam 2020. With Paul Heyman and at least one of The Usos by his side Reigns has demolished all challengers before him including Kevin Owens, Edge, Daniel Bryan, and Rey Mysterio. Reigns will rekindle his rivalry with Edge at Money In The Bank as the 2021 men’s Royal Rumble winner gets a one-on-one shot for the WWE Universal Championship.
