Bryan Danielson has detailed the correspondence he received regarding a recent trademark filing.
During his time in the promotion, especially in the lead-up to his victory at WrestleMania 30, Danielson regularly led the fans in a chorus of “Yes” chants. Following his jump to AEW in 2021, Danielson used the gesture sparingly out of respect for his former employers. However, in the past year, Bryan Danielson filed to trademark the catchphrase and started using it in his matches. Aware of what was going on, the rival promotion sent “some sort of legal letter.”
Speaking with Luke James Chats, the World Champion stated that after he applied for the trademark he received an email not necessarily calling for it to be stopped, but was told he was infringing:
Well so, it’s weird. I applied for it (‘Yes’ chant trademark) but then I got — it wasn’t necessarily a cease and desist. I got some sort of legal letter from WWE (he laughed). Listen, listen, it’s really weird because my manager just texted me and said, ‘Hey, this thing is available. Do you wanna get it?’ And I was like, ‘How much does it cost?’ And it wasn’t that much and I was like, ‘Okay, sure’ and then, shortly after that, I got an email from WWE saying, oh, ‘This is infringing’ on this or that or whatever and I’m like, ‘Dude, I’m not trying to sell anybody anything. I just do my thing.’
Who Will Dethrone Bryan Danielson?
As The American Dragon won the World Championship at All In, he can also retire on his own terms. Addressing his future on the next episode of Dynamite, Danielson stated that he will call time on his full-time in-ring career when he loses the title. While it remains unknown when that will be, a certain name has been in discussion to defeat Bryan Danielson.
