Bryan Danielson Reveals The Two Reasons He Signed For AEW

Bryan Danielson

Bryan Danielson has opened up on two of the key reasons he decided to sign with AEW rather than stay in WWE.

Bryan Danielson shocked the wrestling world when he debuted for AEW at All Out in September 2021 after spending over a decade in WWE.

On the most recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Danielson spoke about the difficulty he faced in deciding between the two promotions. However, he said the fact he was content in WWE gave him the space to really consider his options.

“You’ve got to get both of these people an answer. They’re waiting for you. I’m someone who lollygags and waits for a decision. I was so content that it actually made it easier to deliberate even further.”

‘The American Dragon’ went on to explain that there were several factors at play, but the deciding factors were being able to spend more time with his family and “being able to bleed”, something that is currently banned in WWE matches.

“So there wasn’t necessarily one thing, but when I did the checks and balances as far as what do I want in my life, where can I make a bigger impact and help more people, what the quality of my life would be for my children. Two things that are not related at all would be being able to spend time with my family, and being able to bleed.”

Danielson also noted that he did bring up being able to bleed in matches during discussions with Vince McMahon but it was something that McMahon wouldn’t budge on.

Since joining AEW, Bryan Danielson has had highly acclaimed matches with Kenny Omega and ‘Hangman’ Adam Page. He will next be in action at AEW Revolution on March 6th where he will clash with Jon Moxley. Danielson has been attempting to forge a partnership between the two, however, Moxley wants them to “bleed together” before that can happen.
