Bryan Danielson has revealed his last text message exchange with the late, great Brodie Lee as he paid tribute to the former TNT Champion after AEW Dynamite.
On Wednesday’s edition of AEW Dynamite, Bryan Danielson found out his opponent for Full Gear when Miro defeated Orange Cassidy in the semi-final of the AEW World Title Eliminator Tournament. The Redeemer was a late replacement for Jon Moxley in the tournament after it emerged that Moxley was entering an inpatient alcohol treatment program.
At the end of the Dynamite, The American Dragon made his way to the ring and offered his hand in respect to Miro but the former TNT Champion rebuffed Danielson. Once the show went off the air, Bryan Danielson was joined by the Best Friends group as well as Tony Khan.
Khan discussed this week being the second hardest he’s experienced in wrestling, coming second to the dark days of December 2020 when Brodie Lee sadly passed away at the age of only 41.
After Khan spoke, Danielson discussed Brodie Lee and Jon Moxley as well as Moxley’s encouraging words when Danielson was second-guessing if he still had what it took to compete in AEW:
“Tony just talked about two of my really good friends. One I haven’t gotten the chance to talk about publicly very much, but the last text I sent to Brodie was this, ‘Hey man, how’s life?’ And do you know what he said? He texted me back, ‘It’s f**cking awesome’ (the crowd chants ‘Brodie’).”
“Another guy I texted was the second guy he mentioned, and I might not be here if it weren’t for him because I watched an AEW show and I saw all these men and women doing these incredible things.”
“And I didn’t know if I could keep up, and I said that to Moxley and do you know what he said? He said, ‘You’re Bryan f**cking Danielson. You’re the best in the world. I’m not telling you you should come here but don’t for a goddamn second think you can’t.’ So Jon, get better soon. We miss you, and we love you.”
