A massive change in the landscape of AEW took place on the March 29th edition of Dynamite when Bryan Danielson returned after being gone for most of the month.
The last time Bryan was seen in person in AEW was at Revolution when he failed to beat MJF for the AEW World Championship.
The only other time Bryan was mentioned was in a pre-recorded video in which he suggested he was “going home”. The ambiguity of that message led to uncertainty over Bryan’s future.
Meanwhile, Kenny Omega had to deal with different problems on Dynamite. With The Young Bucks missing from the show following last week’s beatdown at the hands of the Blackpool Combat Club, Omega had to go it alone in his IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship defense against Jeff Cobb.
The much bigger and stronger Cobb proved to be a major challenge for Omega, but the champion still pulled through in the end. After pinning Cobb with the One-Winged Angel, Omega was still recovering on the mat when the BCC surrounded the ring as they had done earlier on the show and in prior weeks as well.
It looked like Omega was doomed to be beaten down like everyone else when Bryan Danielson’s music played. He entered the ring to huge fanfare and helped Omega to his feet. It looked like Danielson had Omega’s back…until he lured him into a false sense of security.
“You are everything that is wrong with wrestling” – Bryan Danielson to Kenny Omega on AEW Dynamite
As Omega rushed to a corner, he turned his back on Bryan and turned around to eat a Busaiku Knee. Then he locked the IWGP US champion in his LeBell Lock as the BCC kept security at bay and stomped a defenseless Omega.
With this new turn, the BCC is now comprised of four members: Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta, and Bryan Danielson.
