Bryan Danielson Makes Things Complicated As He Names Avril Lavigne Hit As

Bryan Danielson has an alternative view on an Avril Lavigne classic.

More than 20 years on from the release of Lavigne’s debut album Let Go, which has sold more than 16 million songs worldwide, the pop-punk star has not seen a dip in popularity as more than 70,000 fans were in attendance for her set at this year’s Glastonbury festival.

While the mix of nostalgia and a back catalogue of hits has seen Lavigne stand the test of time in the music world, Danielson has an interesting take on her iconic anthem Sk8er Boi.

While being interviewed by Kerrang, Danielson was asked to list 10 songs that changed his life. When the topic of “Most annoying song ever” was brought up, The American Dragon stated that while he is a fan of the Avril Lavigne hit, other wrestlers did not share the same view:

“It doesn’t get on my nerves, I love it, but part of the reason why I love it is because it gets on other people’s nerves. When I was doing the Butlin’s shows, I loved that it got under the of the people I would ride with. I asked to come out to it as entrance music. I was a bad guy at Butlin’s – doing the USA chants, singing the American national anthem – so I came out to Sk8er Boi, but it’s such an upbeat song that all the kids at Butlin’s were clapping to it.

Then Brian Dixon, who was the promoter, he started making the good guys, the English guys, come out to it because the crowd loved it so much. And that just made it better! These guys all hate this song, but they have to come out to it and I loved it.”

As Danielson prepares to challenge Swerve Strickland for the World Championship at All In on August 25th, the AEW star will be hoping that the match will give him his happy ending.
