Bryan Danielson has fully recovered ahead of his match at the AEW WrestleDream pay-per-view.
The American Dragon will be competing against Zack Sabre Jr. on October 1st. This will be the first standard singles match that Danielson has had since returning at All Out as subsequent matches have been stipulation matches or multi-man matches.
Speaking with The New York Post, Danielson admitted that the reason he has been competing in strap matches and Texas Death matches is “because it made it easier for him to protect his arm.” However, this will not be required in the match against Sabre Jr. as The American Dragon has revealed that he is “fully cleared” heading into the contest.
Danielson took time away to recover after suffering a broken arm in his match against Kazuchika Okada at Forbidden Door. Continuing the interview, Danielson admitted that there is a very high probability that the injury could reoccur:
“Our doctors would still not like me to do certain things, but from like two weeks ago when I had the tag match the strength in my hand is coming back way faster than they thought it would, the mobility and all that stuff,” Danielson said. “I still have to be cautious probably for the next year or so. They put a steel rod in my arm. One of the things they said is that it actually makes it more likely to break not where it broke before, but where the end of the rod is. It’s like a fulcrum for the bone to bend against.”
Bryan Danielson & Zack Sabre Jr. Hoping For Technical Masterpiece
Danielson and Sabre Jr. are widely regarded as two of the best technical wrestlers in the industry today. So much so that the category of Best Technical Wrestler in the Wrestling Observer yearly awards has been named after Danielson. Since 2005, Danielson and Sabre Jr. are the only two wrestlers to ever win the award each year.
The match between the two technicians was originally scheduled for Forbidden Door 2022 but was changed due to Danielson not being cleared to compete. The replacement for Sabre Jr. was Claudio Castagnoli, who made his AEW debut that evening and was announced as the newest signee shortly afterwards. Speaking about the upcoming match, Sabre Jr. has warned Danielson about what to expect.
