Bryan Danielson – “I Would Love To Go Wrestle In New Japan”

Bryan Danielson

Bryan Danielson says he’d love to smash open the ‘forbidden door’ and compete for New Japan Pro Wrestling but only when quarantine is not a consideration.

Danielson stunned the wrestling world after he made his All Elite Wrestling debut at the end of the All Out pay-per-view. With The Elite standing stronger than ever after adding Adam Cole to their ranks, Danielson made his way to the ring to confront the group and stand with Christian Cage and Jurassic Express who had fallen victim to Kenny Omega and co.

Speaking at the post-All Out media scrum, Bryan Danielson discussed the possibility of him working for New Japan given their working relationship with AEW. Danielson says he’d love to, but things need to settle down in a post-pandemic world for that to happen:

“Yes. But you know, we all know we’re in a weird situation within the world. I mean, I would love, love, love, love, love to go wrestle in New Japan, would love that. But with COVID being what it is right now. You know what I mean? I can’t leave, I can’t quarantine for two weeks, I can’t to go to a couple of shows in Japan. I just can’t do it. I would love to wrestle in Mexico. I don’t know if that’s the safest thing in the world for me right now. You know what I mean?”

With travel off the agenda for now, The American Dragon says he’s focussed on AEW and paid tribute to the stars of the company who have made AEW what it is from the start:

“So, for right now, I’m going to focus on AEW, and then go from there. But as far as how it felt, I mean, it felt great, right, like, it was, but I do want to say this. That is only possible because of what the people who started this company have built. There’s other wrestling companies out there, that have great talent besides WWE like, you know, the other companies, and I didn’t hear really anybody clamouring for me to go there. There’s a reason for people clamouring for me to come here and it’s because of what they’ve already built before Punk got here, before I got here. People were already excited about it and then like ‘oh Imagine if you add this person to this already fantastic mix’ like that’s what gives you chills.”
