Former WWE Superstar Bryan Danielson has recently revealed why he hated filming the now cancelled reality TV series Total Bellas.
Total Bellas ran for six seasons from 2016 until it was cancelled in 2022. The show came as a spin off to Total Divas except it followed the lives of WWE Hall of Famers Brie, and Nikki Bella.
The show was eventually cancelled because of the twins wanting more privacy for their families as they had just moved and were starting fresh in the city of Napa, CA. Nikki Bella had just had her first born with husband Artem Chigvintsev and Nikki explained how hard it was filming with her new born and Brie’s daughter Birdie, but this was only a part of what led to the twins deciding that it was time to move on.
On a recent episode of The Sessions with Renee Paquette at Starrcast V, Bryan Danielson explained why he hated filming the reality TV show:
“So I give this retirement speech, and then shortly after I have to go and live in John Cena’s house. Because we are filming Total Bellas, and I hate, hate, hate! I don’t hate many things, but I hate filming reality television.”
“It’s just like you are constantly changing clothes on the same day to film something so that it appears like it was filmed on a different day. This is supposed to be reality? I’m like ‘Can’t I just wear the same clothes?’ And they are like ‘No you can not.’ Also it was really hard because for me, when you are going through something like retiring from the thing that you love, you would like to be around friends and family.”
“Brie was full time on the road with wrestling, so she would leave on Fridays and not come back until Wednesday. We would film Wednesday and Thursday and she would leave again on Friday. I am in John Cena’s guest house, there’s all these rules, I got the dog. I love John and I think that John is great, but that is not the ideal thing to be in.”
“Then they manufactured these arguments that sometimes turned into real arguments, and then one of the arguments got real real, and then it was like I don’t want to be here anymore. So I just left and yeah, it was bad.”
The Bellas had mentioned in the past that they still have new and projects on the table for future shows. If that is the case, it is difficult to see Bryan Danielson being involved in some sort of capacity.
