Bryan Danielson Admits He Is Still Not 100% Following Will Ospreay Match At AEW Dynasty

Bryan Danielson Admits He Is Still Not 100% Following Will Ospreay Match At AEW Dynasty

Bryan Danielson has stated that he is dealing with neck issues ahead of the violent and unpredictable match at AEW Double or Nothing.

Coming off an incredibly physical match against Will Ospreay at the Dynasty pay-per-view on April 21st, The American Dragon has only competed twice since in tag team matches. At AEW Double or Nothing, Danielson will team up with FTR and Darby Allin, who is also not at his optimum, to take on The Elite in an Anarchy in the Arena match. Previously competing in this stipulation, Danielson was sidelined with a concussion back in 2022 and was forced to miss Forbidden Door and All In as a result. Speaking in a recent interview, Danielson has admitted he is still in pain.

Appearing on The Wrestling Classic, Danielson stated that he was still dealing with neck issues but is cleared to compete:

“My neck hurts. So yeah, I’m having some issues with my neck. There was a thing where I gave [Ospreay] a Frankensteiner and he landed on his feet. And there like in the background, nobody noticed it I don’t think at the time, I’m not on social media much. But yeah. So when I did it, I just landed right on my head and I was like, ‘Oh my gosh!’ Like, I didn’t know and I’ve needed some time after that. But the MRIs I’m okay. But like, how do I feel on a day-to-day basis? My neck is like, you know.”

Continuing, Danielson opened up about his relationship with pain and how he deals with it:

“I don’t know if this is good or if this is bad but you come to see pain as perception. It’s a perception. Especially like, for example, in meditation. I get a lot of Ulnar Nerve Pain, which is when you have, I think it’s C6 C7. When those are compressed like pain that comes down your back of your arm into your pinky and all that kind of stuff. And so when you’re sitting in meditation, that doesn’t go away. And you look and you go to examine what is that. What is that? We identify it as bad and negative. But those are also mental constructions of what it is.

It’s just a signal that something is going on. I’ve started to see pain is that more and more as I’ve gotten older and that sort of thing. I find it to be a very useful paradigm as far as how I look at pain. Because it can also be like, ‘Okay, that means this needs to be fixed. Or it means this needs to be done differently,’ Or all those different things. Yeah it’s a signal.”

Since this interview, Bryan Danielson has admitted he has been told he will need surgery “pretty soon.”
