Bron Breakker has revealed that his father, Rick Steiner won’t be stepping back in the ring, although he refused to rule out teaming with his illustrious uncle, Scott.
Although Bron Breakker doesn’t compete under his famous family name, in 2022 WWE have embraced his connection to Scott and Rick Steiner. Breakker inducted the tag team legend into the WWE Hall of Fame in April, while his father Rick has featured on NXT 2.0.
Steiner’s most recent appearance came when he was kidnapped by Joe Gacy and Harland, who are feuding with the NXT Champion.
Rick Steiner’s appearances have led some fans to wonder whether the father and son might team up at some point in the future, even if it’s just a one off. Steiner has wrestled as recently as 2019, but his appearances have decreased noticeably in recent years, with the Hall of Famer last working something resembling a full-time schedule in 2005.
Speaking to Ryan Satin on Out of Character, Breakker confirmed that his father was happily retired, and has no desire to step back in the ring.
No, he won’t do it. He’s just one of those people that, in his prime, he was a beast back in the day, 300 pounds and behind the neck press 365 (pounds) for sets of ten. He was nuts. He did 20 years in the business, at the top of the tag team division or singles division for pretty much the entire time.
I think he’s at peace with his career and performing. He thinks it’s good. He’s satisfied with what he was able to accomplish and just walk away and transition into other stuff. He’s made a big transition, he’s been on the school board for 20 years if he gets re-elected this year and he’s been doing real estate for a long time. He’s busy. He has no interest in doing it [wrestling] anymore.”
However, Breakker didn’t rule out performing alongside his uncle, Scott Steiner who has shown no desire hang up his boots just yet.
“That would be fun. I don’t know, never say never, I guess. I would love to do something with him, but I don’t know, I guess we’ll see.”
It has been announced that Bron Breakker will defend his NXT Championship against Joe Gacy on June 4th at NXT In Your House.
