Brock Lesnar hasn’t appeared on WWE television since defeating Bobby Lashley at Crown Jewel on November 5th. However, with the star set to be in action at the 2023 Royal Rumble, there are also reportedly huge plans in place for The Beast at WrestleMania 39.
For the best part of two decades Brock Lesnar has been one of the most dominant forces WWE has ever seen. During his career he has tangled with some of the very best in history, more often that not emerging with the win. But that means that he now has a target on his back, with the current crop of would-be megastars ready to see if they can be the man to slay The Beast.
Brock Lesnar WrestleMania 39 Plans Revealed
One of those stars with their sights set on Brock Lesnar is Gunther. Despite being something of a veteran the giant Austrian is a relative new comer to WWE’s main roster. However, since making his debut back in April 2022, he has remained undefeated in singles action and claimed the Intercontinental Title. Although that dominant run looks like it could be tested at WrestleMania.
A new report from WrestlingNewsCo has claimed that Gunther vs. Brock Lesnar is “listed internally” for WrestleMania 39 in Inglewood, California. The report adds that compared to when Vince McMahon was in charge of creative, plans tend to be more fixed, this means that barring something like a serious injury, plans for WrestleMania are unlikely to change.
As well as a potential match at WrestleMania, Brock Lesnar is also scheduled to appear at the 2023 Royal Rumble on January 28th and Elimination Chamber a month later.
Back in November Gunther talked up the possibility of facing the former WWE Champion, describing a potential bout as a “dream match.”
“If I had to pin it down to one name, I’d say it’s Brock Lesnar at the moment. When I was young and watching WWE, I enjoyed watching his matches. Later on when I progressed in my career, I was able to watch wrestling and analyze how people work. He’s always been somebody I was impressed with. He’s one of the best to ever do it. I think that’s the biggest possible challenge for me at the moment.”
Gunther will be back in action on the December 16th edition of SmackDown where he defends his Intercontinental Championship against Ricochet.
