Confrontations backstage at sporting events are nothing new, especially in combat sports. But challenging Brock Lesnar to a fight in a hallway is certainly going to raise some eyebrows.
WWE Crown Jewel 2019 featured Tyson Fury’s only WWE match to date. At the event in Saudi Arabia, the undefeated heavyweight boxing star defeated Braun Strowman via count out. Despite Fury making numerous WWE appearances since, including at Clash At The Castle, he is yet to wrestle again, although he is seemingly open to the idea. For the match, Fury travelled with his usual entourage, including Tim Allcock.
Brock Lesnar Challenged To A Fight
In the months after the event, IFL TV host Kugan Cassius recalled an incident to Tommy Fury (Tyson’s brother) where Allcock attempted to start a fight with Brock Lesnar who was backstage at the time.
“He offered out Brock Lesnar. It didn’t go down too well, to be honest with you. It was in the corridor, and Tim was just looking over at Brock Lesnar. I think Brock Lesnar, according to Tim, said to him, ‘What are you looking at?’ and he went, ‘What do you mean what am I looking at? What, do you want a fight or something? Come on, then.’ And then there was a complaint made about Tim over that comment, but Tim was saying, ‘I was ready.’”
At Crown Jewel 2019 Brock Lesnar successfully defended the WWE Championship against Cain Velasquez who was making his in-ring WWE debut. The card was headlined by the Universal Championship match between Seth Rollins and ‘The Fiend’ Bray Wyatt.
The event also went down in history for the travel chaos which followed it’s completion. More than 200 WWE personnel were left stranded on an aeroplane for several hours, with the delay being credited to a mechanical fault. The incident spawned numerous conspiracy theories, while it has since been reported that the passengers were “held hostage.”
