WWE Champion Brock Lesnar closed out Monday Night Raw with a bold statement that he’ll see Roman Reigns on the upcoming episode of SmackDown.
Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar were set to face off at WWE Day 1, but those plans were thwarted when Roman Reigns tested positive for COVID-19 hours before the Premium Live Event was to begin. Multiple changes were made to the show, the most notable being that Brock Lesnar was inserted into the WWE Championship match and shockingly won the title in the main event.
The following night’s episode of Raw opened with the newly crowned champion reuniting with his advocate Paul Heyman, who heaped praise on both former champion Big E and Bobby Lashley. Heyman pointed out that Lashley was the only man in the fatal five way match that didn’t take an F5 from his client at Day 1.
Later that night, the original participants of the WWE Championship match faced off in a fatal four way after all, this time to determine the number one contender for the WWE Championship. Bobby Lashley emerged victorious when he pinned Kevin Owens and will face Brock Lesnar at the Royal Rumble on January 29th.
As Bobby Lashley was celebrating his victory, the WWE Champion was approached by interviewer Kevin Patrick, who asked for a comment on the situation. Instead of addressing Lashley as number one contender, Lesnar instead determined that he would see the Universal Champion and his intended Day 1 opponent on Friday’s episode of SmackDown.
“A comment? I do have a comment. Tell Roman Reigns I’ll see him this Friday on SmackDown.”

While this declaration is surprising coming off the heels of Lesnar winning a Raw championship and finding out who his opponent will be at the Royal Rumble, the Beast is technically a free agent and can appear on any brand he likes. It is more surprising that he’s seemed to confirm Roman’s appearance on Friday’s SmackDown episode when the Universal Champion tested positive for COVID-19 just yesterday, though it remains to be seen if Reigns will appear on the show in person or virtually.
