Dr. Britt Baker, DMD has revealed whose idea it was to turn her character heel, pointing to one of AEW’s elite roster members.
Baker was the latest guest on Renne Paquette’s Oral Sessions, the pair speaking about her “Lights Out” match with Thunder Rosa, her relationship with Adam Cole, how she balances being a wrestler and a full-time dentist, and a lot more.
Renee got her teeth into Baker’s most recent character development, asking “how much did turning heel help you? Because since you turned, shit just took off for you”.
Yeah, That was Kenny [Omega], that was all Kenny’s idea to turn me heel.
I was scared but of course, I was going to do it. I’m not going to say no, but I was nervous. I never had been a heel before. I didn’t know anything about heat.
That’s the best thing that ever happened to me, honestly.
Drilling further, Baker revealed that not only was the heel turn itself Omega’s idea, but Chris Jericho also helped on her heel promo work with his previous heel character wisdom – Baker admitting that she actually tried to replicate Jericho’s 90’s WCW persona in the process.
That and getting injured because when I got injured I got to work on my heel promos.
Who better to work with than Chris Jericho of all people?
It’s like I literally ripped off some of his character from WCW when he was like the role model and the conspiracy victim. So, he helps me so much.
Britt Baker and Thunder Rosa’s main event match on Dynamite (in which Rosa just brushed past Baker for the win) has already been crowned one of the Women’s division’s greatest, and if that’s just a taste of what’s to come from Pennsylvania’s most recognised dentist, the AEW Women’s locker-room better be braced for what’s next.
