Dr. Britt Baker DMD has revealed that it was some current WWE Superstars that motivated her to train in wrestling while she attended dental school.
The wrestling dentist was the first woman competitor to sign with All Elite Wrestling when the company was announced in 2019. Since then Britt Baker has taken the wrestling world by storm as she has become the focal point of AEW’s women’s division and in May became AEW Women’s World Champion when she defeated Hikaru Shida at Double Or Nothing.
Now speaking to Renee Paquette and Miesha Tate on the Throwing Down podcast, Baker revealed that it was four women central to the women’s evolution in WWE that inspired her to get in the ring:
“When I first started training, when I was like, ‘Hey, this is something I want to do while I’m in dental school,’ what really motivated me was when I saw the Sasha, Bayley, Becky, Charlotte matches that were happening on NXT at the time. Which is crazy because now we’re all like, quote-unquote competing against each other. But those are my idols, those are the girls that I enjoyed watching, and I think with women’s wrestling, the thing that I find is a trend that the most successful women are the ones that have the utmost confidence in themselves, and who they are and that character.”
“One way or another, if you’re a good guy or a bad guy and you just own it and you bring that ‘bad b*tch’ vibe energy one way or another, I think those girls, to me, those girls are the ones that I want to watch.”
Becky Lynch is the current SmackDown Women’s Champion while Charlotte Flair holds the top title on Raw, however, the two women are set to swap brands later this month following the WWE Draft. Sasha Banks recently returned after a short absence that saw her miss SummerSlam, and Bayley is currently out of action after suffering a serious knee injury in July.
