AEW Women’s Champion Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. recalled a touching story from her time training with former NXT Champion Johnny Gargano.

Long before her reign atop the women’s division in All Elite Wrestling, Britt Baker trained to become a professional wrestler under Johnny Gargano and his partner Candice LeRae at Absolute Intense Wrestling in Cleveland, OH.

The dentist recently took to social media to share a story from her time training with the pair, saying that even after Johnny Gargano began working with WWE, he would still make time to come back to Cleveland to train his students.

“When I was one of Johnny’s students, we would be so excited to hear all about his early NXT trips before he officially signed. He was busier than ever creating the start of his legacy but he still always made it back to Cleveland to train us.”

Baker trained with Gargano and LeRae while simultaneously attending the University of Pittsburgh School of Dentistry, where she graduated in May of 2018. She signed with All Elite Wrestling in January of 2019 and became the AEW Women’s Champion after defeating Hikaru Shida at AEW Double or Nothing in May of 2021.

Her former trainer signed with NXT back in 2016 after competing as part of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic alongside Tomasso Ciampa. He would go on to become the first NXT Triple Crown Champion after winning the NXT Championship in 2019. He had previously won the NXT Tag Team Championships with Ciampa during their time as DIY, and he would hold the NXT North American Championship a record three times during his tenure in the company.

While it is believed that Johnny Gargano is on his way out of NXT after his contract’s expiration, the NXT Triple Crown Champion promises he will “tell everything” on the December 7th episode of NXT 2.0 following his team’s defeat at WarGames.

“You guys are saying thank you to me, but really, I want to say thank you to all of you. Because without all of you, there wouldn’t be a Johnny Wrestling, and that’s true.

[Crowd chants we love you] And you guys know that I love you right back. But with that love, I am an open book to you guys, and I am always 100% honest and 100% authentic with you because I feel like you guys aren’t just fans.”

“We’ve known each other for such a long time now, you guys are like my family, this is like my family. And right now, I’m beat up, I’m tired, I’m sore, I’ve got a lot on my mind, but I want to tell you you guys everything. And I will tell you everything this Tuesday night. Everyone come back here this Tuesday night, and I’m going to tell you guys everything, ok?”

Gargano recently signed a short term contract extension that will reportedly expire on December 10th.
