Britt Baker – “I Don’t Need To Go Anywhere, They Can Come Here”

Britt Baker

AEW Women’s World Champion Britt Baker currently stands atop AEW’s women’s division and her message is clear. If you want to step to her in the ring, you’re having to come to her, because she isn’t going anywhere.

From the moment that pro wrestling’s ‘forbidden door’ swung open in December 2020 the wrestling world was flipped on its head. At AEW Winter Is Coming, IMPACT’s Don Callis helped Kenny Omega capture the AEW World Championship in a move which would see Omega appear in IMPACT. This led to Omega winning the IMPACT World Championship, before recently losing it to another AEW star, Christian Cage.

In the intervening months, numerous New Japan stars have made their way to AEW, while The Good Brothers have appeared in both IMPACT and AEW.

Despite the coming and going, the AEW Women’s division has remained relatively stable. After Baker defeated Hikaru Shida for the Women’s Championship at Double or Nothing, many fans wondered whether the new champion may follow Omega’s lead and appear in different promotions.

Speaking at Planet Comic-Con, Baker didn’t rule out taking on new challengers, but said that they would have to come to her.

“I’m not going anywhere because I’m in the hottest professional wrestling company on the planet. I don’t need to go anywhere. They can come here, and that’s fine, but I have no desire to go anywhere because they can all come to us,”

In reference to Omega appearing with both IMPACT and AEW, Baker said that everyone is free to find their own way.

“Everyone has their own different path. I’m the baddest bitch of the block in AEW and, again, if they want to come to me I welcome them all with open arms. Please step foot in my ring.”

Britt Baker will make the latest defence of her AEW Women’s Championship at All Out on September 5th. At the event Baker will meet the top ranked contender Kris Statlander.

The rivalry between the pair began on the debut episode of AEW Rampage. After Baker defeated Red Velvet she continued to dish out the punishment to her rival. Statlander, who had been watching from ringside jumped the rail and came to help Velvet, only to be taken out by a mystery assailant who was revealed to be Jamie Hayter.
