‘The Waiting Room’ with Britt Baker made it’s debut on night 2 of AEW Dynamite New Years Smash to great reviews from fans online. The laugh out loud segment featuring Baker and her assistant Reba set the stage for an interaction between Cody Rhodes and Jade Cargill, before a brawl erupted between Cargill and Red Velvet.
It marked the first time that the segment had moved from it’s regular slot on AEW Dark to the AEW’s flagship show.
Speaking to Sunday Night’s Main Event Baker revealed how her partnership with Reba, formerly known as Rebel in IMPACT came about.
“Completely organic. When the pandemic first started, we had to do a lot of vignettes at home. Tony Khan had the idea to start doing Rules of Being a Role Model, so we were filming in the dental office. Rebel, who was a makeup artist for AEW, she was on the set to do my hair and makeup. Then, it was Cody who wrote her into the script and said, ‘Hey, let’s play around with it and call her Reba.’ From there, it just took off. The first time we worked together, it was way too good and so much fun. Just how it is with Tony Schiavone, we just clicked.”
Dr Britt Baker D.M.D went on to describe Reba as “one of my very good friends” adding that she “is going to be around for a long time.”
During the chaotic end of the segment featuring Cody Rhodes and Jade Cargill, it was also confirmed that Baker will be back in action against Thunder Rose at AEW Beach Break on February 3rd. The match was originally scheduled to take place at New Years Smash, but was reportedly postponed due to Rose coming into contact with someone who had tested positive for COVID-19.
