Dr. Britt Baker DMD has shared a clip of her posing with long-term boyfriend and NXT star Adam Cole along with her brand new AEW gold (bay-bay!)
Baker finally captured the AEW Women’s Championship from Japanese star Hikaru Shida at Double Or Nothing. In a back and forth contest Baker survived being hit by ally Rebel’s crutch as her interference nearly backfired horribly for AEW’s resident role model. In the end, Baker was able to lock Shida in her ‘Lock Jaw’ submission hold leaving the champion no choice but to submit.
At the media scrum after the pay-per-view the new champion discussed some of her biggest supporters in the company, saying:
“I have a very, very close working relationship with Tony Khan. In a lot of ways, I owe everything to him, because he believed in me when I almost didn’t believe in myself when a lot of people doubted me. I think he always believed in Dr. Britt Baker. So I owe my title in some way to having some Tony Khan bait on the line.”
“Chris Jericho, I’d say it a hundred times. I love picking Ricky Starks’ brain. Cody, he has a great mind for wrestling. Kenny, Jerry Lynn, Dustin (Rhodes), we have so many excellent coaches here. You’re an idiot if you don’t take advantage of it. And as soon as I really dialed in and was like ‘hey, I want to be the best’, everything just kind of fell into place.”
Britt Baker shared the clip of her and Cole on her Instagram stories. While Cole smiled behind Baker, she wore her new AEW Women’s Title proudly around her neck.
Adam Cole is a former NXT Champion who recently made his return to NXT television after several weeks in shocking fashion as he interfered in the number one contender’s match for the NXT Championship.
Baker and Cole’s cross-company relationship has made headlines before as Baker was captured looking worried at ringside on camera during Cole’s War Games match in 2019 when Tomasso Ciampa, Keith Lee, Dominik Dijakovic, and Kevin Owens defeated the Undisputed Era. During the match, Ciampa floored Cole with an Air Raid Crash off of the cage through two tables to win the bout for his team.
