Ricky Hatton Once Beat A 7-Time Champion On An Episode Of WWE RAW
On the November 9, 2009, episode of RAW that took place in Sheffield, UK, Hatton was announced as the show’s special General Manager for one night only. Through the night, Hatton interacted with multiple stars such as D-Generation X (Triple H and Shawn Michaels), Chris Jericho, the Big Show, Santino Marella, and Chavo Guerrero, among others.
The former Cruiserweight Champion challenged Santino Marella, which the boxing legend suggested to be a boxer versus wrestler match, as Marella was donning boxing gear and calling himself Ricky, which the 7-time champion happily accepted. However, the twist came when Ricky Hatton revealed he was the boxer named Ricky who would be stepping into the ring.
The match saw Guerrero trying to escape Hatton’s punches and even land a cheap shot on the boxing legend. Chavo tried to take the fight to the ground and hold Hatton in place for a Suplex, but the boxing legend found a way out and landed a nasty hook that flattened the former Tag Team Champion.
Despite multiple attempts, Guerrero could not make it to his feet, giving Hatton the win by Knockout.
Our thoughts and prayers at ITR Wrestling are with Ricky Hatton’s family and loved ones during this difficult time. May his soul rest in peace.
