Brian Kendrick Assumes New WWE Role

According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, former WWE Cruiserweight Champion Brian Kendrick now has a producer role in NXT.

Though further details were not given of Kendrick’s duties, it is believed that the former ‘Spanky’ is responsible for putting bouts together. His knowledge and experience will come in particular use around the brand’s cruiserweight division.

The thought of Santos Escobar, Isiah Scott, Jake Atlas and others working on the extra base of Kendrick’s knowledge is a mouth-watering prospect.

The role as NXT producer isn’t the first backstage role Kendrick has been given in WWE, however. Six years ago in 2014, the talent worked as a trainer for the company and was seen on Total Divas when the promotion sent Eva Marie to his school to brush up on her skills.

Building a solid reputation as teacher, Kendrick was re-signed to the company as an active performer for the company’s Cruiserweight Classic

Recently, Kendrick has been bolstering the roster on 205 Live, but hasn’t competed between the ropes since his NXT producer role began. The last time he laced up a pair of boots was on October 30, teaming with Mansoor in a winning effort over Ever-Rise.

It is currently unknown whether Kendrick has quietly stepped away from the ring to assume his new role.
