After being away from AEW television for more than six months, Brian Cage was reportedly backstage at the May 25th edition of Dynamite.
Brian Cage hasn’t wrestled on AEW television since the October 6th episode of Dynamite where he was defeated in a Philadelphia Street Fight by Ricky Starks. ‘The Machine’ had earlier lost the FTW Championship to Starks in July, after which he was effectively kicked out of Team Taz.
The relationship between AEW and Cage had seemingly taken a hit during this period after his wife was less than complimentary about her husband’s booking with the company. As a result, many expected the star to let his contract expire.
However, in February it was reported that AEW had taken up the option on Cage’s contract. Despite this, he has continued to be absent. Although this might be about to change.
According to a new report from Fightful Select, Cage was backstage in Las Vegas at the most recent episode of Dynamite. It is unclear as to whether there are creative plans in the place for the star to return to action. It should be noted that he didn’t appear on the AEW Dark: Elevation taping held before the show.
Although Cage hasn’t wrestled for AEW, he has remained active on the independent scene appearing for CCW and Warrior Wrestling among others. Despite being away from AEW, Cage did appear at Ring of Honor Supercard of Honor shortly after AEW President Tony Khan acquired the company. At the event, Cage defeated Ninja Mack aligning with Tully Blanchard Enterprises.
