Bret Hart Claims He Could Wrestle Ric Flair For An Hour Without A Plan

Ric Flair & Bret Hart

Bret Hart has claimed that he and Ric Flair could wrestle for an hour without discussing the match before hand.

One of the major differences many former wrestlers cite between the past and the present day, is the ability of performers to “call it in the ring.” While it has become more and more common for wrestlers to plan out their matches with increasing levels of detail before hand, that hasn’t always been the case.

In previous generations it was often expected that wrestlers, especially those at the top level, would work their match on the fly with little to no preparation.

During an appearance on Ric Flair’s Wooooo Nation Uncensored podcast, Bret Hart discussed this approach with the Nature Boy. Hart claimed that he could go into an hour long match with Flair without even speaking beforehand.

“I mean, I was a guy that like he said, was talking about Randy. You know, I could always go in the ring and call a match out there, I didn’t need to plan anything, like zero. I would go out and do an hour match with Ric, I don’t think we would ever talk, without talking to him before we went out and I could do that with Ric at any given time. At the same time, I was also, part of the Dynamite Kid, a different generation that was going a lot faster and doing a lot more intricate new high spots that weren’t sort of the same ones.”

While Bret Hart is long retired from in-ring action, that doesn’t mean that the star isn’t still in demand. Numerous AEW stars including FTR has spoken of their desire to work with Hart, although those within the company believe that won’t be possible as he is under a legends contract with WWE.

A new report also suggested that AEW are yet to speak to Hart over a potential appearance at Double or Nothing for the finals of the Owen Hart Foundation tournament.
