WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart has revealed the three matches he considers the best of his legendary career.
Speaking on The Ariel Helwani Show, Hart reflected on his decades in the ring and picked three iconic bouts that are widely regarded as some of the finest in WWE history.
“I think the match I had with the Bulldog at Wembley was probably my first greatest match, in the sense that it was the first one that I wasn’t in a team.”
Hart said, referring to his Intercontinental Championship clash with the British Bulldog at SummerSlam 1992. The match, held in front of over 80,000 fans at Wembley Stadium, is also remembered as a career highlight for the Bulldog. According to long-standing backstage stories, Hart had to lead the match after Bulldog reportedly forgot the plan for the match.
Hart also singled out his Iron Man match with Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania 12, a 60-minute bout for the WWE Championship.
“The Iron Man match with Shawn Michaels, I mean, you can say what you want about our relationship, and the truth is that it’s hard to top that match. That was a great match.”
His third choice was the No Holds Barred Submission match against “Stone Cold” Steve Austin at WrestleMania 13, famous for its dramatic double turn.
“The Steve Austin match was just such a gem, like all the little things in it, the little twists and turns… I kind of knew it was a heel turn and a babyface turn all in the same match.”
Each of the three matches not only defined Hart’s career but also shaped the legacies of his opponents.
Who Did Bret Hart Say Was His Dream Opponent For One More Match?
Bret Hart spoke about who he would pick to have one more match with if they were both in their prime and named none other than “Mr. Perfect” Curt Hennig. Hart and Hennig’s SummerSlam 1991 match is highly regarded by most wrestling fans and is often credited with cementing Hart’s status as a top future star in the company.
