The long-awaited match between The Rock and Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39 is looking less and less likely as the days go by, but that hasn’t stopped fans and wrestlers alike from dreaming up ways that the box office family showdown could go down.
During an exclusive interview with WrestlingInc. Managing Editor Nick Hausman, Chavo Guerrero shared his own thoughts on how the Anoa’i family battle could play out.
Dwayne Johnson To Win The World Championship?
As a member of a very respected wrestling family himself, Guerrero believes that a win for The Rock over Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship is not “absurd,” but he does recognise that Dwayne Johnson’s time as a wrestler would be brief if he was to make a return to the squared circle, due to his Hollywood commitments.
Guerrero suggests that if Rock were to win a “great back-and-forth battle,” Roman could beat the “living crap out him with a chair and break Rock’s leg,” signifying that he’d be out for some time afterwards. This scenario would allow Rock to win the title but not be around, and Guerrero suggests Reigns could declare himself interim champion in his absence before their inevitable money-spinning rematch down the line.
Guerrero also believes that if Reigns does win, he would come out looking strong:
“Look, you got Roman Reigns, he’s Polynesian, man. He’s those guys you don’t mess with. They used to say to people starting off in the business like, ‘Hey, don’t ever cross the Samoan family, or the Polynesian family,’ because of the fact that you’re not just going to fight one, you’re going to fight all of them. They’re all going to kill you.”
An epic showdown between the two all-time greats of the WWE is a dream that many fans will continue to hope for. Although recent reports suggest a showdown at WrestleMania 39 is looking less and less likely, there is still a possibility for The Rock and Roman Reigns will come together for a legendary match at some point.
