As WWE gears up for WrestleMania 39 one Superstar’s involvement in the two-day spectacular remains uncertain.
During the lead-up to the mega-event, Bray Wyatt began targeting Bobby Lashley. Wyatt teased Lashley by bringing back the FireFly Funhouse and the Muscleman Dance, which seemed to be leading to a match between the two.
However, on March 13th rumours began to circulate that Wyatt and Lashley would no longer be taking place in Hollywood. It was first reported all was not well with Wyatt and WWE due to creative disputes but was left uncorroborated. Another report surfaced stating Wyatt’s Hollywood plans were in jeopardy because of a “physical issue”.
Now, further uncertainty surrounding Wyatt’s status has risen after the spooky storyteller missed the March 17th edition of Friday Night SmackDown.
Speaking on Sunday Night’s Main Event, Dave Meltzer revealed Wyatt’s absence was due to sickness and is unaware of his involvement at the Show of Shows.
“He’s ill,” Meltzer said. “He was supposed to be at the show Friday and he was not so he’s still ill. They did do a quick tease of him so he’s not gone from the company.
When I asked this week if he was going to be wrestling Bobby Lashley at WrestleMania, I did not get an answer and they did not promote that match on either show at all.”
Meltzer added, “I was not given an answer so my gut is that it’s up in the air. I was not told a no, I was not told a yes. I was just told that he is ill. I guess it’s out of their hands right now.
But he’s still with the company. I know there’s people who think that he quit the company but they did do a tease on Friday Night SmackDown show…”
WWE Dropped A Bray Wyatt Tease On SmackDown
Despite his absence from the show, WWE did leave a little Wyatt hint. During a backstage segment, Wyatt’s moth logo was visible in the background.
