Bray Wyatt’s WWE Status Has Changed Following SmackDown

Bray Wyatt

After more than a year out of the limelight, Bray Wyatt returned to WWE at Extreme Rules. Following weeks of hints, teases and vignettes Wyatt appeared at the end of the show to a monster ovation.

On the following episode of Friday Night SmackDown Wyatt took to the ring and gave an emotional address to fans where he thanked them for saving his life. A visibly moved Wyatt, broke down how his earlier WWE exit had sparked a period of reflection a caused him to wonder whether anything he had done in the company had been worth it.

A week later the star followed up on this promo with another darker segment, where he cryptically said that he was now a servant and would go where the “circle” told him.

Bray Wyatt Named SmackDown’s Number One Babyface

It has now been reported by Mike Johnson of PWInsider that Bray Wyatt has been positioned internally as the number one babyface on SmackDown ahead of Drew McIntyre.

The report adds that the former World Champion has been WWE’s top merchandise seller in recent weeks, and the company are “absolutely thrilled” with the rollout of his return. There are also plans for further merchandise to be rolled out including Firefly Funhouse characters.

“The company is especially happy with the buzz from all the interactive “White Rabbit” material leading to Bray’s return and will be looking to do similar content in future storylines, even for others beyond Bray Wyatt if and when the time is right and it fits a storyline. There were a number of people who pushed for such content in the past but it was never authorized under the old regime, but until the Paul Levesque vision for creative, that has changed.”

On the most recent episode of SmackDown the teases around Wyatt continued with a mysterious figure appearing for the first time. A mysterious QR card also revealed a faux-psychiatric report for Wyatt himself.
