Bray Wyatt Teases WWE Return

Bray Wyatt

As we near the one-year anniversary of his shock WWE departure, Bray Wyatt has teased a return to where it all began.

31 July 2021 will forever be remembered as the date of Bray Wyatt’s departure from WWE. In an out-of-the-blue Saturday release, WWE cited “budget cuts” as the reason behind Wyatt being cut, despite him being one of WWE’s top merch sellers at the time.

The former Universal Champion has remained a free agent ever since, but he could soon be back on WWE programming. In the most Bray Wyatt possible, he’s teased so subtly, changing his Twitter bio to reference advice from Vince McMahon. It reads, “Begin again kid, it’s what you do”, with the VKM initials following:

Wyatt returning to WWE would hardly be the first time a cut Superstar returned to the organisation. The likes of Samoa Joe and Cody Rhodes have all done this, albeit with several years’ difference in their released-return timeframes.

The timing on Bray Wyatt’s latest tease is particularly intriguing this time around, with SummerSlam right around the corner. SummerSlam has been known for some raucous moments in the past, such as Brock Lesnar and Becky Lynch both making their huge returns last year. A Wyatt comeback is never going to be off the table in that regard.

Bray was signed to WWE for twelve years, wrestling his way up from FCW all the way up to being crowned WWE Champion. The real-life Windham Rotunda wrestled under a multitude of personas during this time, including Husky Harris, Axl Mulligan, and, of course, The Fiend.

Although a WWE return now looks more likely, Bray Wyatt has also been extensively linked with an AEW run. Fans speculated that he could debut for the company last September in Rochester, New York – the home of the late Mr Brodie Lee, Bray’s former Wyatt Family partner – but as it stands, he’s not returned to the squared circle quite yet.
