Over the years, Bray Wyatt and John Cena have met several times in the ring, however one bout that stands out saw Wyatt get his first victory over Cena in a very odd way.
At WrestleMania 30, Wyatt and Cena met in a singles match for the first time. The 20 minute battle ended with Cena getting his hand raised in victory, but Wyatt was finished with the star just yet.
The strange ending to the rematch between John Cena and Bray Wyatt
Bray Wyatt got his rematch against John Cena a month later at Extreme Rules, this time in the confines of a steel cage. The pair fought for some time, with members of the Wyatt Family attempting to interfere on his behalf, only for the 16-time World Champion to fight them off.
After finally being able to lay Wyatt out, Cena went to escape the cage. However, the lights went out and when they came back on, a demonic child had appeared who started singing “He’s Got The Whole World In His Hands”. The distraction was enough for Wyatt to hit John Cena with Sister Abigail and leave the cage to win the bout.
Bray Wyatt comments on the ending
Recently, former WWE Head Writer Brian Gewirtz took to social media to list things that WWE creative discussed but didn’t follow through with. These included The Undertaker having a secret son, and Vince McMahon having a mid-life crisis.
Jokingly, he also added “Cena losing to Bray Wyatt via singing possessed child…” before correcting himself because it actually happened.
Bray Wyatt, perhaps defiantly, responded to the post saying simply, “Yes. Yes, it did.”
Yes. Yes it did.
