After being away from WWE for more than a year, Bray Wyatt made his long-awaited comeback to the company at Extreme Rules where he received a hero’s welcome from fans.
While Wyatt was always always a popular figure with fans during his initial run with WWE, his popularity has soared since returning to the company. Although the star has yet to wrestle, his two promo segments have certainly got fans talking.
In his first week back Wyatt gave an emotional address to fans where he thanked them for saving his life and never letting him forget who he was. On October 21st the star cut another promo where things took a more sinister turn, the former Universal Champion claimed that he was ready to do “horrible, horrible things,” and would do whatever “the circle” required.
Bray Wyatt Vs. Roman Reigns Would Be Biggest Program In Some Time
Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer discussed Bray Wyatt’s return and his current impressive popularity. Meltzer commented that the star is currently WWE’s top merchandise seller and while the plan is to keep him away from Reigns initially, a program between the pair would be big business.
“Paul Levesque had told people even before Wyatt debuted that the type of teases that were being done would be used more often as a facet of storylines and mystery. With the success of the Wyatt angle, expect there to me more of it. Wyatt has become the top merch seller over the Bloodline. While it would be best to keep them apart for a while, the idea is Reigns vs. Wyatt could be the biggest program in a long time since Wyatt is so hot right now.”
Meanwhile it was recently reported that Bray Wyatt is now considered the top babyface on Friday Night SmackDown. This shift in focus has moved Drew McIntyre into the number two spot.
