Bray Wyatt made his stunning return to WWE at Extreme Rules on October 8th. His appearance came after weeks of teases across WWE television and live events. The ‘white rabbit’ vignettes became a regular feature of WWE programming and included interactive puzzles, all signalling to his return.
Since returning Bray Wyatt’s appearances have posed more questions than answers. There have been rumours of a faction named the ‘Wyatt 6,’ while the star has been been confronted on video by a mysterious character named Uncle Howdy.
As Wyatt continues to try and prove that he’s reborn, Howdy and other forces appear to be trying to drag him back into a dark and destructive place. To add another layer to the mystery, Wyatt has been tangling with LA Knight on SmackDown which saw the latter left laying backstage, seemingly by someone in connection to Wyatt.
Bray Wyatt Last Wrestled Back in April 2021
The Bray Wyatt character of today bears little resemblance to The Fiend who he was playing when he was released back in July 2021. In the months prior to his exit Wyatt has been performing as his alter-ego who seemingly impervious to pain, and locked in a rivalry with Randy Orton which stretched back into 2020.
The feud which included a Firefly Inferno Match finally came to a head at WrestleMania 37, where Orton scored the win. Wyatt made his final WWE appearance before October 2022, on the following edition of Monday Night Raw suggesting that change was on the way.
Wyatt remained part of WWE until he was surpassingly released on July 31st.
The feud with Orton drew heavy criticism across the board, and The Viper has since admitted that many aspects of the program were “rough.”
At the time of his departure there were numerous theories as to why the star had been let go. There were suggestions that he wasn’t medically cleared, while there was also talk of mental health issues, although this was later disproven.
However, the clearest indication of what led to his exit was a report which claimed he clashed with then Chairman Vince McMahon. It was reported that McMahon simply “didn’t like” Bray Watt who was known to be outspoken over poor creative. Wyatt was also said to be highly critical of his storyline with Randy Orton which lacked direction and saw the finish to their match at WrestleMania changed right before the event.
