Bray Wyatt is currently preparing for his first televised match since April 2021.
At the Royal Rumble on January 28th, Wyatt will meet LA Knight in the first-ever Pitch Black Match. Although Wyatt has competed at a handful of live events, he is yet to step into the ring for meaningful action since returning to WWE at Extreme Rules.
Bray Wyatt Claims The Royal Rumble Will Be His Rebirth
On the January 13th episode of SmackDown, Bray Wyatt addressed fans and his upcoming match with Knight. Seated in a rocking chair, a call back to one of his previous incarnations, Wyatt said that it was funny how you can lose yourself, but he has remembered who he is.
“I am the Eater of Worlds. I am Uncle Howdy. I am him. I am the nagging conscience of a world that has thrown itself away to moral monsters, I am everything! I am Bray Wyatt!
I know who I am, but who are you? At the Royal Rumble it will be my true rebirth. A baptism in the dark. As for you LA Knight, know this son, when the lights go out, you should run.”
Although intrigue around Wyatt’s comeback match is high among fans, no one is really quite sure what to expect at the Royal Rumble. It turns out that at least one of the men involved in the Pitch Black Match doesn’t know either.
During an appearance on WWE After The Bell, LA Knight discussed what he’s been told, or seemingly not told, about the contest. Knight told fans to expect a Street Fight in the dark, kind of.
Since returning to WWE, Bray Wyatt has been plagued by a mysterious character named Uncle Howdy. As Wyatt attempts to move away from his dark past, Howdy tries even harder to pull him back.
The character even made an appearance on Monday Night Raw, seemingly in a bid to try and recruit Alexa Bliss. The former Raw Women’s Champion has an extensive history with Bray Wyatt going back to when he was The Fiend.
