Bray Wyatt and LA Knight competed in the first-ever “Pitch Black” match at yesterday’s Royal Rumble.
The rules of the match were controversially kept quiet until the bell rang. Fans soon found out that the bout was wrestled under no disqualification rules, but with the added twist of a black light being shone over the ring.
At the time of writing, feedback to the match is mixed, but Bray Wyatt has wasted no time in giving his thoughts about the Pitch Black match.
Bray Wyatt Comments On Divisive WWE Royal Rumble Match
At the Royal Rumble Post-Show Press Conference, Bray Wyatt was allowed the opportunity to speak about the event. He had the below to say about his Pitch Black match against LA Knight.
“There are some people that like new concepts and people who take risks and things, and then there are people who don’t just because they don’t. It’s a sport to some, it’s a show to others.”
“The beautiful thing about wrestling and this industry is that there is something for everyone. I’ve always prided myself on the fact that I’m willing to take risks and do things that no one has ever done.”
“In my opinion, if you’re not willing to do that then what are you doing here? It’s about leaving a legacy, for me, and I’d do pretty much anything, especially if no one has ever done it before because I know people will notice, and it’s fun for me.”
In a post-match segment, Bray Wyatt would don a mask and back LA Knight into the crowd. When they reached a particular arena area, Wyatt knocked Knight out, allowing Uncle Howdy to jump onto Knight from the top of an elevated structure.
It is not yet clear whether the feud between Wyatt and Knight will end with this segment or if there is more story to be told between the two men.
