A brand new era of NXT kicked off with the Brawling Brutes making their presence felt with a typically vicious beatdown!
The October 4th edition of NXT opened with Tag Team Champions Pretty Deadly making their way to the ring, the pair dressed as British colonial red coats.
The duo make a series of jokes to hammer home their superiority over the rest of the roster. After turning their attention to the tag team division the British stars claimed that they have no competition left, therefore they should be awarded the NXT Tag Team Titles forever.
This set up a surprise appearance from SmackDown’s Butch and Ridge Holland. The former NXT stars arrived huge “Bruiserweight” chants, a reference to Butch’s time with the Black and Gold brand as Pete Dunne.
The SmackDown stars wasted little time in getting down to business, brawling with the champions and throwing them from the ring.
It was later announced that the two teams will meet in the main event with the NXT Tag Team Titles on the line. In the main event it was the champions who were able to retain after the Brutes were attacked by two thirds of Imperium.
It's….. FIGHT NIGHT!!!

The Brawling Brutes have been on a roll in recent weeks, pushing Unified Tag Team Champions The Usos to the limit on the September 23rd edition of Friday Night SmackDown. Aside from almost capturing tag team gold, along with Sheamus Holland and Butch have been wrapped up in a feud with the Gunther-led faction Imperium. The two warring factions are set to meet at Extreme Rules on October 8th.
Just 24 hours ahead of that clash, Sheamus will attempt to win the Intercontinental Title when he meets Gunther on SmackDown in a huge Clash at the Castle rematch.
