Braun Strowman and Shane McMahon will meet at WrestleMania inside a solid steel cage after ‘The Monster Among Men’ picked the stipulation.
Tensions have built over the past several months between the two men. Strowman grew frustrated at his lack of opportunities to compete for the WWE Championship on Raw. In return, McMahon goaded Strowman at every opportunity in an attempt to embarrass him.
A match between the two on Raw never officially began as Strowman chased McMahon around ringside. McMahon nailed Strowman with shots from a camera before hitting his patented elbow drop through the announce table. The segment ended with McMahon covering Strowman in green slime.
The two men were then slated to meet at the Fastlane pay-per-view in March. However, McMahon appeared to suffer a knee injury preparing for the match. McMahon named Elias as his replacement with Strowman then making short work of the guitar-playing superstar.
On Raw, an enraged Strowman held McMahon to his word that Braun could have any match he wanted with him. Strowman picked a cage match, meaning the two men will be locked inside the steel structure at the ‘Show of Shows’.
Incredibly this will mark only the second time there has been a cage match in WrestleMania’s thirty-six-year history. The only other time a cage match has been on the WrestleMania card was in 1986 at Wrestlemania 2. In the main event, Hulk Hogan defended his WWE Championship against King Kong Bundy in a cage. Hogan retained his title by escaping over the top.
WrestleMania 37 takes place at the Raymond James Stadium on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th of April 2021. WWE expects around 25,000 fans to attend each night of their biggest show of the year.
