Braun Strowman has discussed Vince McMahon’s confusion at his initial gimmick on WWE television that was far removed from The Monster Among Men.
Strowman is best known as the giant wrecking machine in WWE who destroyed all in his path – WWE Superstars, vehicles, and sets – on his way to being crowned WWE Universal Champion.
Before he achieved that goal, Strowman was introduced formally to the WWE Universe as the black sheep of The Wyatt Family, joining Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper, and Erick Rowan in the group.
But it was before even those days that the giant star caught Vince McMahon’s eye when he was part of the dancing party that followed Adam Rose everywhere he went known as The Rosebuds. Braun Strowman explained on Highspots Wrestling Network’s Virtual Gimmick Table Show that when McMahon saw him as a Rosebud, he was a little confused:
“I was a Rosebud. That’s what got me seen. Vince [McMahon] himself saw me doing the Rosebud gimmick, he goes, ‘Why is this guy doing this?”
Strowman – who is now known by his real name of Adam Scherr – was released from WWE in early June 2021. He went on to say that he now has time to explore all his options and interests although he admits he does miss being in the ring:
“It’s kind of cool to have the opportunity just to do stuff. I was very fortunate in my time with WWE but it was very, very time-consuming. I didn’t have a lot of time to do other things so now during my downtime when I’m trying to figure out what I wanna do when I grow up, I get an opportunity to go out and, you know, explore different avenues, try different things and I’m enjoying it. I definitely miss being in the squared circle though. I promise you that.”
