Braun Strowman Defeats EC3 In First Post WWE Match

Braun Strowman

Former WWE Universal Champion Braun Strowman has been successful in his first bout since leaving WWE, defeating former WWE Superstar EC3.

The Monster Among Men became a free agent on September 1st after being released by WWE on June 2nd. Strowman was released alongside Aleister Black, Buddy Murphy, Lana, Santana Garrett, and Ruby Riott as the company continued to trim its roster.

Posting on social media, Strowman announced that he was facing EC3 at a special event titled “Free The Narrative II: The Monster In Us All,” which took place on the 1st of October.

Strowman competed under his real name of Adam Scherr, using the nickname of ‘The Titan’ and defeated the former two time TNA World Champion in the show’s main event.

Strowman took to social media after the bout to send a message of thanks to EC3:

“You helped free me from so many monsters I had locked inside me. Thank you @therealec3 you helped take my rose colored glasses off and truly see the beauty of the world!!!! I changed the day we filmed this. You believed in me and I believe in you @freethenarrator told me to bet on myself and that hit so close to home because that is what got me so far in life betting on myself and I forgot how to do it i stopped believing in myself. I left millions of dollars on the table to be able to do something I cared about in my heart something I feel will be so very important to other people that are struggling with there selfs. There’s more important things in life sometimes than a pay check and this is 100% one of those things. I am forever indebted to you both for reaching your hands out to a man who was lost and just needed an outlet to be set free!!!!”

Since leaving WWE, Braun Strowman has repeatedly been linked with a move to IMPACT Wrestling. It was recently suggested that Strowman would be heading to the company alongside Buddy Murphy, who is now known as Buddy Matthews.

Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer noted that IMPACT Executive Vince President Scott D’Amore had earmarked the pair with a move to the company. Strowman himself later appeared to tease the move on social media.
