Braun Strowman has been added to the WWE Championship match at WrestleMania Backlash to make it a triple threat bout between himself, Bobby Lashley, and Drew McIntyre.
Strowman’s addition into the title match came after another hectic night for ‘The Monster Among Men’ on Raw. He kicked off the show in what should have been a tag team bout with McIntyre as his partner. The two men were slated to face off with the now unmasked T-Bar and Mace. However, before this match could get started Strowman announced it would be a handicap match so he could do what Drew McIntyre couldn’t do the previous week and beat the former RETRIBUTION members alone.
Much like the week before the match ended in disqualification when T-Bar and Mace refused to stop double-teaming Strowman. This assault prompted the number one contender McIntyre to make the save.
The match then restarted as a tag team bout between the two duos. That match ended in a countdown win for T-Bar and Mace when an errant clothesline from McIntyre hit Strowman rather than its intended target. Following the match, Strowman gained a measure of revenge on the Scotsman by power slamming him.
This led to the night’s main event, a singles match pitting Strowman and McIntyre against each other. During the night Braun Strowman managed to get WWE official Adam Pearce to agree to the stipulation that if Strowman beat McIntyre he would be added to the WWE Title match at WrestleMania Backlash.
After a slew of interference in the match from T-Bar and Mace as well as MVP and WWE Champion Bobby Lashley, Strowman was able to take advantage. He then hit McIntyre with another big power slam to claim the victory and his place in the WWE Championship match.
